How does a jawline filler treatment work?
The cosmetic doctor will start by marking the jawline, indicating where the filler will later be injected. The amount will also be determined. First, a small hole will be punctured with a needle to create an opening in the jawline. Then, the filler will be injected into this opening using a cannula. A cannula is a blunt needle often used for filler injections for added precision.
During the treatment, we use a filler based on calcium (Radiesse) or hyaluronic acid (Belotero, MaiLi, or Juvéderm). The choice depends on the desired result and the practitioner’s advice. If your jawline is very saggy, you probably need a sturdy filler like Radiesse. In addition to filler, we can also inject muscle relaxants in the same area. This results in a slimmer face, which we call face slimming.

First, a small hole will be punctured with a needle to create an opening in the jawline. Once the opening is made, the muscle relaxant will be injected with a cannula. The treatment takes about 20 minutes. The filler contains a numbing agent, so a numbing cream is not necessary beforehand.
You should not exercise for up to 24 hours after the treatment, and avoid visiting saunas or sunbeds for 2 weeks. Exposure to UV radiation can make the treated skin more sensitive and affect the treatment results.

Result of Jawline Fillers
After a jawline filler treatment, the results are almost immediately visible. Your jawline is tighter and the contours are sharper. However, you may experience some swelling after the treatment. If the result seems intense, don’t worry, as it will diminish over the following two weeks with proper cooling and rest.
If you are not satisfied, come back for a follow-up appointment within two to four weeks after your treatment. You and your practitioner will work together to find a suitable solution. With a Radiesse treatment, you can enjoy the results for an average of nine to twelve months. The result with a hyaluronic acid filler will last for six to nine months. If you notice very sunken cheeks after your treatment, you can also fill them in with fillers.

For the first 48 hours after the treatment, do not massage or rub the injected area unless specifically advised by the practitioner. You can move your jaw and face normally. Possible risks include bruising or swelling after the treatment, so it’s recommended to cool the area well.
The swelling will subside after a few days. Bruises may be camouflaged with makeup after a few hours, once the injection holes are closed. Also, do not exercise for the first 24 hours after the treatment, and avoid saunas or sunbeds for 2 weeks. Exposure to UV radiation can make the skin more sensitive and affect the results.

Frequently Asked Questions about Jawline Fillers
awline fillers, as the name suggests, add extra volume to the jawline. This can create a tight V-shape, but also simply bring more balance to the face. This treatment often has a rejuvenating effect as it counteracts sagging skin.
Fillers are a very good solution if you want a tighter jawline (again). Such a treatment can restore volume loss, resulting in a tight and accentuated jawline.
Why jawline fillers? As we age, not only does the skin change, but so does the bone structure. Cheeks sag, and the jawline becomes less tight. This can make you look older and more tired than you actually are.
The effect of a jawline filler treatment with a Radiesse filler will last for 9 months to a year. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Belotero and Juvéderm remain effective for 6 to 9 months. After this, you are naturally welcome again for a repeat treatment.
With hyaluronic acid fillers like Belotero and Juvéderm, we often use 1 ml. For the calcium filler Radiesse, 1.5 ml is used.
