What are smoker's lines?
As we age and due to the frequent contraction of the muscles and wrinkles around the mouth, combined with aging, smoker’s lines can develop. They are also called a barcode or smoker’s wrinkles. Fillers can fill in the smoker’s lines and reduce or soften the wrinkles. As a result, you look younger and fresher, and it also acts as an anti-aging solution.
These lines above the lips can also occur in non-smokers, making you appear older than you actually are. Another common problem is lipstick bleeding outside the vermilion border of the lips. During the consultation, the practitioner will examine your face and take some photos so that you can compare the results after the treatment. First, the practitioner will examine the smoker’s lines and potentially mark them. During the treatment, the lines are gently filled with a hyaluronic acid filler. The amount of filler injected has been predetermined and shared with you. Furthermore, this treatment requires a maximum of 20 minutes.
You should avoid sports for 24 hours after the treatment and refrain from visiting the sauna or sunbed for 2 weeks. Exposure to UV radiation can make the treated skin more sensitive and affect the results of the treatment.

The result of smoker's lines:
The result is optimal after 2 weeks. You will notice that the wrinkles around your upper lip have disappeared, giving you a youthful and fresh appearance again. If you are not satisfied with the result of the treatment, you can return to your practitioner for a follow-up appointment from 2 to 4 weeks after the treatment.
The effect of your treatment will last for 6 to 9 months, after which the lines will slowly reappear. You will then return for a repeat treatment. Besides smoker’s wrinkles, wrinkles may also develop next to the lips and nose. This is also called nasolabial folds and can easily be treated with fillers.
Smoker's lines aftercare:
During the first 48 hours after the treatment, you should not massage or rub the treated area unless specifically advised by the doctor. You can still move your face naturally. After the treatment, you may experience bruising or swelling, in which case it is recommended to apply cold compresses to the area. The swelling will subside after a few days.
Bruising can be camouflaged with makeup a few hours after the treatment, once the injection sites have closed. Additionally, you should avoid sports for 24 hours after the treatment and refrain from visiting the sauna or sunbed for 2 weeks.
