A stern expression, even when you're not angry? That could be due to frown lines. These lines between the eyebrows form a deep groove. They occur, for example, when you squint in the sun or focus intently. Not happy with them? These wrinkles can be treated with muscle relaxants.

What are frown lines?

Frown lines are vertical lines that create a deep groove between your eyebrows. These lines result from the tightening of muscles between and just above our eyebrows. The eyebrows are pulled down and together, causing the overlying skin to fold, resulting in vertical lines. We use muscle relaxants for your frown lines, which will soften visible lines.

How does a frown line treatment work?

The cosmetic doctor starts by injecting muscles between and just above your eyebrows with muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants ensure that the muscles between the eyebrows are temporarily immobilized. As a result, the muscles relax, preventing you from frowning, and the skin no longer folds.

The wrinkles between the eyebrows will soften as a result. The treatment can ultimately eliminate the frown line. You’ll have a softer appearance, and your facial expression will become much friendlier. A benefit is that the position of the eyebrows will subtly improve. To enhance the appearance of the eyebrows further, an eyebrow lift is the perfect solution.

The result of frown line treatment

The optimal result is visible after just two weeks. Muscle relaxants have softened the vertical wrinkle between the eyebrows, making it less visible. So always wait for these 2 weeks. If you are not satisfied with the result after this period, you are welcome for a follow-up appointment. This appointment should take place within 2 to 4 weeks after a treatment.

The effect of muscle relaxants will last about 3 months, after which you will come back for a repeat treatment. In addition to frown lines, muscle relaxants are also often chosen to treat forehead wrinkles. You can potentially combine these treatments with frown lines.

Frown Line Aftercare

Immediately after a frown line treatment, you can move the area normally. What you should avoid is massaging or rubbing the injected area for the first 48 hours. It is possible that you may experience bruising or swelling after a treatment.

Bruises can be camouflaged with makeup a few hours after a treatment when the puncture holes are closed. Furthermore, you should not exercise within 48 hours after treatment and avoid saunas or sunbeds for 2 weeks after treatment. UV exposure can make the skin extra sensitive and affect the result.
