Saggy Jowls

As we age, the cheeks tend to sag a bit. Quite normal, but not ideal if you want to maintain a youthful appearance. A filler treatment for saggy jowls can provide a solution.

What are saggy jowls?

Saggy jowls is a popular term for a sagging jawline. You may notice that the skin at the bottom of the face has started to sag a bit. This is partly because the bones shrink as we age. We literally lose centimeters of bone in the jaw. We also lose less fat in the face. This results in excess skin that sags.

How does a saggy jowls treatment work?

During a saggy jowls treatment, we fill in the excess skin with fillers. The substance essentially replaces the lost bone and fat. First, the area is marked so that the filler is placed in the right spot. Once it’s settled, the practitioner can begin injecting.

First, they puncture a hole, and then the filler is injected using a cannula, a blunt needle, on both sides of the face. The filler fills the area and makes it firm again. If you also notice volume loss in other parts of the face, such as the temples or cheeks, we can also fill those with filler. Ask your specialist about the options.

Saggy Jowls Procedure

You can easily book a consultation or treatment online using the appointment button. We are also available by phone at 088 101 4600. We’re here for you Monday through Saturday from 09:00 to 15:00.

A consultation at Faceland is always free and non-binding. You’re not committed to anything. During this appointment, you discuss your wishes with the specialist. Together, you examine the face and determine how the treatment can provide improvement. Photos are also taken so you can compare the final result later. A consultation can be booked separately or with a subsequent treatment.

First, the practitioner thoroughly disinfects the area. Then, a hole is punctured with a needle. Here, the filler will be injected with a cannula, a blunt needle. Anesthesia is not necessary because it’s already in the filler. The treatment takes about 20 minutes.

Recovery from a saggy jowls treatment is very short. In the first few days, you may experience bruising or swelling. Cooling will help this disappear quickly. Avoid sweating and sun exposure in the first days, as this can cause the filler to break down or become infected. You can wear makeup a few hours after the treatment once the injection holes are closed.

Cost of Saggy Jowls Removal

The price of a treatment for sagging jowls depends on the brand and amount of filler injected.

We also distinguish between premium and regular practitioners. Check the price list for a precise indication of the costs.

Result of a Saggy Jowls Treatment

You’ll notice a difference immediately after the treatment. The ‘pouches’ where the volume loss occurred are much fuller and appear lifted. The jawline is tighter and has more definition. It provides a subtle effect that contributes to a younger appearance. Depending on the brand of filler, you can enjoy the results for six to twelve months.

Prefer a permanent result? With a surgical facelift, you can also get rid of the excess skin. If you’re (still) not satisfied with the result, you can come in for a follow-up appointment two to four weeks later. Your practitioner will then see how the result can be refined. Wait at least two weeks, as the result will be optimal by then.

Aftercare saggy jowls

It’s best to leave the treated area alone for the first 48 hours. Do not rub or massage, unless the practitioner tells you otherwise. You can still move your jaw normally. Swelling and bruising may occur in the first few days. Cool these areas well, and they will disappear quickly. Makeup can be used a few hours after the treatment, once the injection holes are closed.

In addition, you should not exercise for 24 hours after the treatment and avoid the sunbed or sauna for 2 weeks. Excessive sweating can negatively affect the result. UV exposure should also be avoided. Always wear sunscreen and a sun hat to protect the treated area.
