What is the difference between breast augmentation and breast lift?

Breast augmentation adds extra volume through implants. After the operation, you'll definitely have a larger cup size. A breast lift, on the other hand, addresses sagging breasts by removing excess skin tissue. So, you don't get extra volume. You can also choose to combine the two procedures.

What is not allowed after breast augmentation?

After breast surgery, you should take it easy for at least six weeks. After two weeks, light activities are possible again, but it's advisable to wait six weeks before exercising. With heavy fitness, it's better to wait three months. We strongly advise against smoking six weeks before and after the surgery.

How does breast augmentation work?

For a breast augmentation, you first have a consultation. Here, you discuss your wishes so the consultant can determine how to fulfill them. You will try on different prostheses and talk about your health. Be sure to bring a list of your medications. Once all important matters are discussed, you will schedule a meeting with the plastic surgeon. During this second appointment, you will discuss the treatment plan.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The plastic surgeon makes incisions in the breasts, as discussed beforehand. The implants are placed through these incisions. Once they are in position, the incisions are stitched and covered with bandages. You will be taken to the recovery room, where you will gradually wake up. After a check-up, you can go home the same day. The surgery takes about an hour.

The outcome of a breast augmentation is clear: fuller, larger breasts. The exact size will depend on the decisions made during your consultation. While you’re on your way to these results, a bit of patience is needed. In the first few weeks after surgery, your breasts will be supported by a postoperative bra and covered with bandages, ensuring optimal healing and recovery.

After two weeks, you can remove the bandages, and after six weeks, the bra can come off. You may see some results at that point, but the final outcome will only become truly clear after three months. Full recovery can take up to a year, by which time the scars will have (almost) completely faded. Take sufficient time to recover after a breast augmentation. You will receive pain medication and detailed aftercare instructions to take home. You will also be given a postoperative bra that you must wear day and night for six weeks. Avoid strenuous activities such as bending, lifting, and exercising, and keep your arms low. After two weeks, you can remove the bandages yourself. If you experience complications or have any concerns, please contact us.

You may start driving again after two weeks, but be sure to listen to your body. Try to live as healthily as possible, as this will aid your recovery. For example, avoid smoking two weeks before and four weeks after the breast augmentation. After six weeks, you can resume all your daily activities, but the results will only start to become visible after three months. The final outcome will be optimal one year after your breast augmentation.
