How Does a Prosthesis Replacement Work?
Before the replacement, you’ll first consult with a specialist to discuss your desires and reasons for the surgery. If you’re certain, a surgery date is set. You’ll also have a meeting with the plastic surgeon to finalize the treatment plan. The surgery takes place at an external facility, and you’ll be under anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel anything during the procedure.
The surgeon makes an incision in the breast fold, removes the old implants, and inserts the new ones. Once they are in the correct position, the incision is closed with dissolvable stitches and covered with bandages. You’ll wear a postoperative bra and be taken to the recovery room. After a final check-up, you can go home the same day. If you’re just having the implants removed without replacements, the process remains the same but without new prostheses.

Results of a Prosthesis Replacement
The results depend on the goals you discussed during your consultation. Some choose larger implants, while others keep the same size, or you may opt for complete removal. The ultimate goal is to ensure you feel confident and comfortable in your body.
Initially, your breasts will be hidden under bandages and a postoperative bra. Once removed, you’ll begin to see the results within three months, though it can take up to a year for the scars to fully heal. During this time, Faceland is always available for questions or concerns.

Aftercare for Prosthesis Replacement
For six weeks after surgery, wear your postoperative bra day and night to support the breasts during healing. Avoid sports and heavy lifting for four to six weeks to prevent pressure on the chest. You may resume driving after two weeks, and your stitches will dissolve on their own.
It’s essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Stop smoking two weeks before surgery and avoid it for at least four weeks post-surgery. Results will start to appear after three months, but your scars may still be sensitive—protect them from the sun. Detailed aftercare instructions will be provided to ensure optimal recovery.
